Pegasus in Space
Peter Reidinger is the telepath and telekinetic first met in Pegasus in Flight, and his ability to draw on energy from outside himself could make him the most powerful psychic that human beings have produced.
About
Pegasus in Space is a science fiction novel by the American-Irish writer Anne McCaffrey, published in 2000. It is set in her Talents universe and follows Pegasus in Flight, completing a trilogy that began in 1969.
Its subject is Peter Reidinger, a Talent who is both telepathic and telekinetic and who was introduced in the earlier book. Reidinger turns out to be one of the most important psychics in the history of the setting, because he can tap into sources of energy outside himself, which gives him a power with no obvious limit to it.
That is exactly what makes him a target for the people who oppose Talents on principle and for others with reasons of their own for wanting him gone, and they are the sort of enemies who are willing to hurt everyone rather than allow Talents to go on developing. The novel establishes Reidinger as the first Prime and shows where the Tower system of teleporters comes from, which is what connects this trilogy to the later books about the Rowan and her colleagues.
