Path of Stars
The forest cats have settled into five camps, following the spirit cats' instruction to spread out like the petals of a flower.
About
Path of Stars is a novel for young readers by the American writing team known as Erin Hunter, published in 2015.
The cats of the book are divided into groups led by Tall Shadow, Wind Runner, Thunder, River Ripple and Clear Sky, and the novel is about the difficulty of turning a set of neighbours into an alliance. Slash's followers raid the camps at will, and his terms for peace are higher than the cats can pay. Clear Sky has the most reason to fight and the least credit with the others, because his own past includes the sort of behaviour the leaders are now trying to leave behind. The book is written from several points of view, with chapters that switch between the camps, and the action is a mixture of hunting, boundary disputes and the politics of the leaders' councils.
It is one of the books in the Dawn of the Clans sequence, which tells the story of how the warrior cat groups began, and it comes late in that sequence.
