Paris for One and Other Stories

Paris for One and Other Stories is a collection by the British writer Jojo Moyes, published in 2016.

The book is built around a novella and eight shorter pieces. In the title story, Nell is twenty-six, has never been to Paris and has never been anywhere on a romantic weekend, and she is unsure about going at all. Her boyfriend fails to turn up for the trip, which leaves her alone in the city with the weekend she had planned and nobody to spend it with. What she does with it is the subject of the novella, and it involves discovering that she is more capable of managing on her own than her family and friends have assumed. The remaining stories are in the same register and concern women working out what they actually want. The author's other novels include Me Before You, and the novella here runs in a lighter register than those.
