Not If I Save You First is a young adult novel by Ally Carter, published in 2018 and set mostly in the Alaskan wilderness, where a mistake with the weather can be fatal.

Maddie and Logan were best friends until her father, a Secret Service agent, took her away to a cabin in the middle of the Alaskan bush after an incident that ended her old life. There was no phone, no internet and not a word from Logan for six years. Now the president's son has arrived at the cabin without warning, armed men are following him, and the two of them are alone in country where the cold is a serious threat in its own right. Maddie has spent those years learning how to live in Alaska; Logan has spent them being protected by other people. The novel puts them on foot together and makes Maddie the one who knows what to do.

Carter writes a chase story with a romance underneath it, in which the question of forgiveness matters as much as who is doing the shooting.
