New Moon
Bella Swan is about to turn eighteen, and being in love with a vampire means that every ordinary accident is dangerous.
About
New Moon is a novel by the American writer Stephenie Meyer, published in 2006. It is the second of the four books that begin with Twilight.
The book opens with Bella about to turn eighteen, in a house full of vampires who were changed at seventeen and will never get older. A small accident at her birthday party prompts one of the Cullens to attack her, and Edward concludes that his family is a danger to her and leaves Forks with them, breaking off the relationship. What follows is told from inside Bella's grief, and it is a long stretch of novel in which very little happens except that she is in pain, until she works out that putting herself in danger brings Edward's voice back into her head. She spends her afternoons repairing motorbikes with Jacob Black, a family friend whose own explanation of what he is arrives while she is not looking. The last chapters take the story to Italy, and to a decision about what Bella's life is going to be for.
Meyer writes for young readers and keeps the romance inside a small town of school, forest and family, with the supernatural as the thing nobody in the room is allowed to mention.
