My Fair Mistress
Julianna Hawthorne goes to a London financier to clear a debt her brother owes him, and comes away having agreed to terms she did not expect: six months as Rafe Pendragon's mistress.
About
My Fair Mistress is a historical romance by the American writer Tracy Anne Warren, published in 2007 and the first book of her Mistress trilogy.
Rafe Pendragon is a London financier with a reputation for driving a hard bargain, and Julianna Hawthorne comes to his office to settle a debt that her brother owes him. What she leaves with is an agreement she did not expect: six months as his mistress in exchange for the debt being cleared. Julianna is a widow, which gives her a freedom that unmarried women of her class do not have, and she has been managing her family's affairs since her husband died, so she goes into the arrangement with her eyes open as far as she can. Warren writes the book as a Regency story about the terms people set for each other and what happens when both of them begin to want something other than what was agreed.
It is the first of three novels about the same group of people, and the series continues with the stories of the other women in it.
