Murder List
Regan Madison is a hotel heiress who helps run a charitable foundation, and an anonymous email arrives with a photograph of a crime scene attached.
About
Murder List is a novel by the American writer Julie Garwood, published in 2004 and set in Chicago.
Regan is wealthy, capable and used to running her own affairs, and the photograph that arrives in her inbox is not the kind of thing her life has prepared her for. Alec is a homicide detective on his way to a federal job, and being told to watch a rich woman is the last task he wants; the two of them are at odds from their first conversation. What the police work out is that somebody is keeping a list and working through it in order, and that Regan's name is on it. Garwood runs the investigation and the relationship as two plots alongside each other, with the romance developing while the detectives try to establish who has the list and why.
It is one of a series of connected romantic suspense novels the author wrote about the Buchanan family and their friends, and it can be read perfectly well on its own.
