Morrigan's Cross
Hoyt Mac Cionaoith is a sorcerer who stands on a cliff above a raging sea and rails at the vampire who has taken his twin brother from the family.
About
Morrigan's Cross is a paranormal romance by the American writer Nora Roberts, published in 2006. It opens a trilogy that mixes romance with a war against vampires, and it begins in Ireland.
Hoyt Mac Cionaoith is a sorcerer whose twin brother has been taken from him by a vampire named Lilith. She has existed for over a thousand years and has lured countless men to an immortal doom, and she intends to keep going until she rules everything, so Hoyt sets out to stop her.
The fight is not one he can manage alone. The novel draws together a circle of men and women with different powers, among them a witch and a warrior, and puts the fate of humanity into their hands while pairing them off as the trilogy goes on. The book opens in the last days of high summer, with lightning in a black sky, and moves between Ireland and other times and places. Each novel in the trilogy takes one pair from the circle as its centre, and this first one follows the group as it is assembled.
