About

Liz Tomforde's Mile High is set around a Chicago hockey team and is told in alternating first-person sections across a single season of road trips. Evan Zanders is a player who has built a reputation as the man opposing crowds love to hate, and he plays the role thoroughly: he spends much of his game time in the penalty box and leaves the arena with someone new on his arm most nights. What he does not like is the new flight attendant on the team's private plane, who he decides works for him rather than the other way around.

Stevie has been a flight attendant for years, thought she had seen everything, and is not impressed by what she finds on board. She has also promised herself that she will not get involved with an athlete again, however tempting the man in front of her turns out to be. Zanders sets out to make her season as awkward as he can, and the two of them spend the year testing each other on flights, in hotels and at home, with every road trip blurring the lines between them a little further.

Mile High is a sports romance by Liz Tomforde and was published in 2023, with the team's travel and playing schedule providing the structure for the story.
