Catherine Douglas wakes in a convent on a Greek island knowing only her own name, and is told that everyone believes she died at the hands of her husband and his mistress.

About

Memories of Midnight is a novel by the American writer Sidney Sheldon, published in 1990 and a sequel to The Other Side of Midnight.

Catherine's recovery is slow and incomplete, and the story of how she came to be in the convent comes back to her in pieces. She had been married to Larry Douglas, an American pilot, and had been caught up with him and with Noelle Page in a tangle of money and betrayal that ended with two of the three of them convicted of a murder and executed. Catherine is the one who lived, and the man paying for her convalescence is Constantine Demiris, a Greek shipowner with reasons of his own for wanting to know what she recalls. Sheldon tells it as a thriller of revenge, in which a woman with a damaged memory is the only person who knows the truth and everyone around her has an interest in managing it.

The novel takes up where the earlier book left off and was written to answer readers' questions about what became of her.
