Loves Music, Loves to Dance
Erin Kelley and Darcy Scott are best friends who come to New York after college to start their careers, Erin as a jewellery designer and Darcy as a decorator.
About
Loves Music, Loves to Dance is a thriller by the American writer Mary Higgins Clark, published in 1991. It takes a piece of ordinary city life, the personal advertisement, and turns it into the method of a killer, and it follows two friends who did nothing more dangerous than help a colleague with her research.
Erin Kelley and Darcy Scott leave college together and move to the city, where Erin begins a career as a jewellery designer and Darcy succeeds as a decorator. Both of them are doing well in New York. Wanting to help a friend who produces television programmes, Darcy persuades Erin to help her research the sort of people who place personal advertisements, which seems harmless until Erin vanishes.
Erin's body is found on an abandoned pier on Manhattan's waterfront, wearing one of her own shoes and, on the other foot, a high-heeled dancing slipper. Communications from the killer make it clear that this was not his first victim and that he does not intend it to be his last. Darcy realises that she is next on his list.
