Love Bites

Love Bites is a paranormal romance by Lynsay Sands, published in 2004. Its central character, Etienne Argeneau, has been a bachelor for three hundred years and has arrived at a problem.

He is permitted to turn only one human being in his lifetime, and most of his kind find a life mate instead of choosing. What forces the decision is Rachel Garrett, a coroner who saved his life.

Rachel had wanted nothing more than to get off the night shift in the morgue, and what she gets instead is immortality she did not ask for. Etienne's answer is to turn her, which settles one problem and opens several others. Turning her saves her life and settles the choice for both of them.

The novel is about an old bachelor making a permanent decision in a hurry and about the woman who wakes up to find out what he has done, and it runs on the distance between his three hundred years of habit and her very recent introduction to the question.
