Love & Other Natural Disasters

Love & Other Natural Disasters is a young adult romantic comedy by Misa Sugiura, published in 2021. Its central character, Nozomi Nagai, has a clear idea of what a summer romance should look like.

A pretend one is not in the picture she had in mind, and that is the arrangement she ends up in. Willow is the woman who asks: she is gorgeous, she is glamorous, and she is recently heartbroken.

What Willow wants is for Nozomi to pose as her new girlfriend so that her ex will be jealous. Nozomi agrees to it and has a plan of her own, because the performance is also her chance to show Willow that she would be better for her than the person Willow lost. Willow's ex is the audience the whole performance is aimed at.

The novel is a queer romantic comedy about a summer that begins as a favour and a scheme, and it is told while the reader can see what both of the people involved are hoping to get out of it.
