Lost Boy
Jamie is the first boy Peter Pan ever brought to the island and the one who has stayed longest, which is the problem, because Jamie is growing up.
About
Lost Boy is a novel by the American writer Christina Henry, published in 2017 and a retelling of the Peter Pan story from the point of view of one of the Lost Boys.
Jamie has been on the island longer than he can remember, and he has taken on the work Peter will not do: feeding the boys, settling their quarrels and keeping the very small ones alive. Peter brings new children from the other place when he wants company and loses interest when they are hurt, and he does not accept that any of it is his responsibility. When a spider attacks the group, Peter lets slip that he has an arrangement with the island's monsters about which boys they may take, and Jamie starts to understand what his own survival has been built on. Henry writes the island as a beautiful place with a cruel economy, and the book follows Jamie from loyalty to revolt.
The novel is a parallel telling rather than a sequel, and its subtitle names the character Jamie grows into.
