Lie Down in Roses
Lady Genevieve will do anything to save Edenby Castle, including sharing a name and a bed with the enemy who has taken it.
About
Lie Down in Roses is a historical romance by Heather Graham, published in 1988 and set in England during the Wars of the Roses, when rival noble houses fought for the crown.
Lady Genevieve is wilful, beautiful and without the military strength to hold Edenby Castle on her own, so she does what she must: she puts herself into the hands of the man who has taken it. Lord Tristan is a nobleman and a knight, magnificent in battle and entirely accustomed to winning, and he is the last person she should be sharing a name and a marriage bed with. Neither of them admits that she is working against him from inside his own household, or that he is losing his freedom to the woman he has just conquered.
The novel is a game of intrigue and desire between two people who were born on opposite sides of a war, and it keeps the political manoeuvring and the attraction moving at the same time. It belongs to a large run of historical romances by the same author, several of which use the same period.
