Kiss of Midnight

Kiss of Midnight is a paranormal romance novel by Lara Adrian, published in 2007. Its heroine, Gabrielle, is in a crowded dance club when she becomes aware that she is being watched.

The man watching her is a black-haired stranger, and what he stirs in her is desire rather than caution. Nothing about the night turns out to be what it appears to be, and the first thing that goes wrong is his presence there at all.

Outside the club Gabrielle witnesses a murder, and the murder is what changes the terms of her life. In that instant she is pushed into a realm she did not know existed, one in which vampires move through the shadows and the rules she has been living by do not apply.

The novel is the first of a sequence about a group of vampire warriors, and it is built on the difference between a woman who is still deciding whether she imagined what she saw and a man who knows exactly what she has walked into.
