Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating, published in 2018, is built on two people who are plainly unsuited and know it. Hazel Camille Bradford is a great deal to take: she has an army of pets, a taste for the absurd and a habit of saying exactly the wrong thing at the wrong moment, and most of the men she meets are not up to the challenge. Josh Im has known her since college, where her chaos and his composure looked like an obvious mismatch.

By the time their paths cross again, the two of them are friends rather than anything else, and they settle on a project: they will arrange blind dates for each other until each of them finds a suitable partner. The plan is meant to take as long as it takes. What it does not involve, on either side, is the two of them dating each other, however much time the project turns out to require.

Christina Lauren is the combined pen name of Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings, an American author duo who met in 2009 while writing fan fiction online and became co-authors in 2010. They write romance, contemporary fiction and teenage fiction, and they have published several novels together since.
