Insurgent
One choice can transform a person or destroy them, and every choice has consequences.
About
Insurgent is a 2012 dystopian young adult novel by the American author Veronica Roth and the second book in the Divergent trilogy. As the sequel to Divergent, it continues the story of Tris Prior and a dystopian, post-apocalyptic version of Chicago. It was first published on 1 May 2012 by Katherine Tegen Books in the United States and HarperCollins Children's Books in the United Kingdom.
The plot follows directly from the previous novel. A war looms as the conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows, and the book places its protagonist in the position of having to choose sides while secrets emerge and the consequences of earlier decisions become irreversible. That structure is what makes the middle volume of the trilogy a sequence of commitments rather than a single campaign.
Tris's difficulty is partly internal and it is described as such: she is transformed by her own decisions and also by grief and guilt, and she has to accept her Divergence without knowing what it will cost her. That combination of institutional conflict and personal accounting is why the series was read so widely among young adult readers.
