Immortal Beloved
Nastasya has started her life over more times than she can count, and nothing ever really ends when you are immortal.
About
Immortal Beloved is a fantasy novel for younger readers by the American writer Gabrielle Charbonnet, published in 2010. It is the first book of the series of the same name.
Nastasya has begun again more times than she can remember. Nothing in her life really ends, because she is immortal, and she has been living a meaningless party-girl existence with no prospect of it stopping.
Tired of it, she goes to River's Edge, a safe haven for immortals who have gone astray in one way or another. She gives up her designer clothes for jeans and flannel, and the strongest drink available there is tea.
At River's Edge she meets a man she calls a Viking god, the gorgeous and thoroughly attractive Reyn. He is hard to resist, but there is something uncomfortably familiar about him that makes Nastasya cautious, and she resolves to keep her distance from him. She cannot manage it, and in the end she works out that River's Edge holds the key both to her salvation and to her destruction. She is not the only person there with a dark secret, and the novel leaves open whether a dark secret can be fatal even to someone who cannot die.
