I Funny
Jamie Grimm is a middle-school boy in a wheelchair, living with his aunt's family after the car crash that killed his parents and his sister and left him paralysed.
About
I Funny, also published as I Funny: A Middle School Story, is a novel by the American writers James Patterson and Chris Grabenstein, published in 2012.
Jamie Grimm is a middle-school boy who uses a wheelchair. Two years before the book begins he was in a car accident that killed his parents and his younger sister Jenny and left him paralysed from the waist down, and he now lives in Long Beach, New York, with his aunt and her cheerless family. His uncle is kind to him, and his friends laugh at his one-liners, which is most of what keeps him going.
Jamie would rather be treated as an ordinary kid than as a disabled one, and comedy is the place where he is most himself. He enters the Planet's Funniest Kid Comic Contest, wins the Long Island round of it and goes on to compete for the state title. The book was the first of a series that continued with I Even Funnier, I Totally Funniest and several others.
