Hunting Adeline
Hunting Adeline is the second half of a two-book story told from two points of view.
About
Hunting Adeline is a dark romance by the American writer H. D. Carlton, published in 2021. It is the second and final book of the Cat and Mouse Duet.
The story is told in two voices. The first belongs to a young woman who has been taken from her home and is being held in a place full of people who are, as she describes them, monsters dressed as men. She no longer recognises what she has become in there, and much of what she is doing is holding on until the man who hunts for her can reach her.
The second voice belongs to that man. He describes himself as having been born a predator, with the ruthlessness bred into him, and when what belongs to him is taken in the night he stops restraining any of it: he sets out to tear the world apart in order to find her and bring her back to where he believes she belongs. Nobody involved is going to escape what he intends, least of all the people who betrayed him.
The two strands run alongside each other and meet again at the end, and the novel is the conclusion of the story that began in the first book of the duet.
