Dylan and Jenna have been avoiding each other's families for years, and the plan puts a stop to that. They are then paired for a task neither can refuse: bringing Christmas to a family that has lost everything except each other. Watching how Jenna treats the two boys involved reminds Dylan of all the reasons he wanted her in the first place.
The children are the reason the two of them spend any time together at all.
