About
Gypsy Lady is a historical romance by the American writer Shirlee Busbee, published in 1977. It moves between England and Paris.
Catherine Tremyne is a young woman with violet eyes who was taken from her father's Cornish estate when she was an infant and raised to adulthood by the Gypsies she believes to be her people. Her life changes when Jason Savage carries her off to Paris, which begins a long journey through danger and captivity, and she finds that she has no way of getting away from an adventurer who has decided to keep her. The novel follows the two of them along a route that takes in intrigue and peril as well as the relationship, and it belongs to the long historical romances of the period, running to more than five hundred pages. Its central figure is a heroine who does not know her own parentage and whose past is part of what has to be discovered.
Busbee wrote historical romances set in England and in Europe, and this is one of her earlier books.
