Chloe Brown lives with chronic pain and has written a list of the things she intends to do about it, starting with moving into a flat of her own.
About
Talia Hibbert's Get a Life, Chloe Brown is set in Britain and centres on Chloe Brown, who lives with chronic pain. Fed up with the way she has been living, she writes a list of the things she intends to do about it, beginning with moving into a flat of her own. The building she moves into comes with a caretaker, Redford Morgan, an artist who keeps to himself, and the two of them get off to a bad start. Chloe needs help with some of the items on her list, and Red has reasons of his own for keeping his life small.
Hibbert has identified the novel as an #OwnVoices work, since the main character's chronic pain mirrors her own experience of fibromyalgia. She spent much of her life dealing with undiagnosed health problems before fibromyalgia was identified, and her difficulties with doctors informed the way the novel handles medical treatment and disbelief.
Get a Life, Chloe Brown was published by Avon Romance in 2019 and was Hibbert's first traditionally published book. It opens a trilogy about the Brown sisters which continued with Take a Hint, Dani Brown (2020), followed in 2021 by Act Your Age, Eve Brown, and the audiobook was narrated by Adjoa Andoh for HarperAudio.
