Fantasy Lover
Being trapped in a bedroom with a woman is a grand thing, but being trapped in hundreds of bedrooms over two thousand years is not, and being cursed into a book as a love-slave for eternity can ruin a Spartan warrior's day.
About
Fantasy Lover is a paranormal romance novel by Sherrilyn Kenyon, published in 2002. Its narrator is a Spartan warrior who has been cursed into a book and serves as a love-slave to whoever summons him.
He has spent two thousand years being called into other people's bedrooms, which he describes as a very different experience from being trapped in one bedroom with one woman. What he knows is how to touch and please the person who summons him, because that is the whole of what the curse allows him to be.
Grace Alexander is different. Her interest is in him as a man with a tormented past rather than as a fantasy, and she is the first person in his long existence to treat him that way. She also takes him out of the arrangement he was expecting.
The novel is about what a person does when somebody offers him a life instead of a service, and about how long a man can keep believing that the service is all he is for.
