Escaping Peril

Escaping Peril is a fantasy novel by the American writer Tui T. Sutherland, published in 2015 and part of the Wings of Fire sequence.

Peril's scales burn whatever they touch, and the queen who raised her used that as a weapon in the SkyWing arena, where she was made to kill other dragons. She has left that behind, and the loyalty she has now is to Clay, the only dragonet who has ever treated her as a friend. When Queen Scarlet threatens Jade Mountain Academy, Peril decides to go after her, which means returning to the queen she escaped from. A SeaWing called Turtle insists on travelling with her, because friends of his went looking for Scarlet and have not come back, and Peril has to manage both the danger and her own tendency to burn first.

The book belongs to a later arc of the series and concerns Peril rather than the original five dragonets.
