Edge of Twilight

Edge of Twilight is a paranormal romance by the American writer Maggie Shayne, published in 2004. It belongs to her long sequence of novels about vampires and the people who hunt them.

Edge is an immortal and he is nearly alone. The others of his kind have been tracked down and destroyed by Frank Stiles, who wants what their bodies can tell him, and Edge's response is straightforward: he means to find Stiles and kill him. The difficulty is that he cannot do it without help that he does not have.

The woman he is looking for is Amber Lily, who is said to be the Golden Child and who, unusually, was born to a human mother and a vampire father. She has abilities she has not yet discovered, and she understands Stiles and the danger he represents better than Edge expects. She also has reasons of her own for wanting to reach him, and those reasons involve keeping Edge alive, which is not a straightforward thing to arrange for a man whose only plan is revenge.
