Dragonwatch
The dragons kept in the dragon sanctuaries no longer regard them as safe places to live, and they have started to see them as prisons instead and want their freedom back.
About
Dragonwatch is a fantasy novel by the American writer Brandon Mull, published in 2017. It is the first book of the series of the same name and is a sequel to the Fablehaven books.
The dragons who have been kept inside the dragon sanctuaries no longer accept them as havens and have come to think of them as prisons. They are no longer allies of the people who put them there, and what they want is their freedom.
In the hidden dragon sanctuary of Wyrmroost, Celebrant the Just, the King of the Dragons, is working out how to take his revenge. He has always considered the sanctuaries to be prisons, and what he wants above everything is to overthrow his captors and return the world to the Age of Dragons, when he and his kind ruled without any borders at all.
No single person can stop Celebrant and his horde, so the ancient order of Dragonwatch has to gather again in order to have any chance of preventing the world's destruction. Dragonwatch was originally made up of wizards, enchantresses, dragon slayers and others who confined most of the dragons in the first place, but nearly all of the original members are gone, and the wizard Agad has to ask Grandpa Sorenson for help. As Kendra and Seth face the new danger, everything depends on the two of them being able to work together as a dragon tamer.
