About

Dragons of Spring Dawning is a fantasy novel by the American writers Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, first published in 1985. It is the third and last book of the Dragonlance Chronicles.

It opens in Flotsam, where Tanis Half-Elven has rejoined the companions after his time with Kitiara, who has gone to Solamnia to lead the Dragonarmies following their failed attack on the High Clerist's Tower. Tanis gives his friends a version of events that leaves out the parts he would rather not explain, including what he was doing while he was away from them.

From Flotsam the group sails across the Blood Sea of Istar towards Kalaman on the ship Perechon, whose helmsman is a man called Berem. He is also known as the Everman and the Green Gemstone Man, and his business in the war is his own until it is not. The book finishes the story begun in Dragons of Autumn Twilight and Dragons of Winter Night and sets up the premise of the Dragonlance Legends trilogy, which the same two writers went on to produce. It has been reprinted several times since and was adapted as a twelve-issue comic book series.
