The gods have left Krynn and the dragons rule the continent, dividing the nations between them under a weak treaty about magic.

About

Dragons of a Fallen Sun is a fantasy novel by the American writers Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, published in 2000. It is the first book of The War of Souls trilogy.

The gods have abandoned Krynn and dragons hold the continent, with the nations divided among them and the small amount of magic left on Krynn allocated equally between them by a weak treaty that is all that holds off a war. Caramon Majere is dying, and he sends the Solamnic knight Gerard and the kender Tasslehoff Burrfoot, who has returned by way of the Device of Time Traveling, to look for the mage Dalamar.

Their search heads towards Qualinesti, where they hope to find Palin Majere, who may know where Dalamar is, and where the elves are threatened by the dragon who rules them. In Silvanesti, Alhana Starbreeze is trying to get through the shield her people's dragon tyrant has raised around it, a barrier that her son Silvanoshei is able to pass. The Knights of Neraka, once the Dark Knights, have meanwhile been taken over by the power of a seventeen-year-old girl named Mina.
