Double Take
Julia Ransom is the widow of August Ransom, a well-known psychic whose murder six months ago left her with a media circus to survive.
About
Double Take is a thriller by the American writer Catherine Coulter, published in 2007 and part of her long-running series of FBI novels.
Julia Ransom is a widow who is only beginning to recover. Her husband, August Ransom, was a celebrated psychic, and when he was murdered the attention that followed took what strength she had left. Six months later she has dinner with friends and then walks along the waterfront at Pier 39 in San Francisco, and the novel catches her at the moment she realises she is happy, before the evening is interrupted by an attack. The case that follows involves government investigators and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the book belongs to a series in which the same group of agents works a new investigation each time, with their own lives carried along between the cases.
Coulter has written the FBI novels for many years, and this one was a New York Times bestseller when it appeared in hardcover. The series began in the 1990s and was still running two decades later.
