Four novellas in one volume, each labelled with a season.

About

Different Seasons is a collection of four novellas by the American writer Stephen King, published in 1982.

The volume gathers four long stories rather than short ones, and each is given a subtitle that corresponds to a season. Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption concerns a banker sentenced to life for murders he did not commit and the years he spends inside as a result. Apt Pupil is about a student who works out what an elderly neighbour did during the war, and what he does with that knowledge. The Body follows four boys who walk into the woods to look for a dead body. The Breathing Method is a tale told by a member of a club. The story told at the club concerns a woman who is determined to give birth whatever happens, and the schoolboy and the old man in Apt Pupil settle into a mutual arrangement rather than a straightforward hunt.

The four pieces are long enough to be printed on their own, and two of them have been filmed separately.
