Diary of an 8-Bit Warrior #6
A young villager in a world built out of blocks has been keeping a diary of his attempts to become a warrior instead of the farmer everyone expects him to be.
About
Diary of an 8-Bit Warrior #6 is a novel for young readers by the writer Cube Kid, published in 2019 by Andrews McMeel. It was originally published in instalments as two Kindle volumes, and the series is set in a world modelled on the video game Minecraft.
The books are written as the diary of a village boy who wants to train as a warrior, in a setting where the inhabitants of a village are threatened by the creatures that come out at night and where the characters' abilities are described in the terms players of the game would recognise. The diary form gives the story its shape: each day is an entry, with the plans, the setbacks and the lessons of a boy who is not the strongest or the fastest among his friends but who keeps working at it. In this volume the work of the village, including the forging that gives the book its subtitle, becomes the centre of the plot, and the skills he has been practising have to be applied. The series was popular enough to be extended through further volumes.
Cube Kid published the series first as e-books, which is why the print volumes are numbered against the original instalments, and the books are read by children of about ten and upwards.
