Death and the Dogwalker
Jason Lynx is an antiques dealer with a habit of solving puzzles, and one morning on a walk with his dog he finds something that puts him in the middle of a murder.
About
Death and the Dogwalker is a mystery novel by the American writer Sheri S. Tepper, published in 1990. It is one of the books about Jason Lynx, an antiques dealer who lives in Denver, Colorado.
Lynx likes solving puzzles rather more than he likes doing the crossword, and the puzzle this time is handed to him during an early morning walk with his dog. What he comes across is the carefully posed body of a man he knew slightly.
What follows is a tangle of intrigue and murder, and an unsolved killing from the police records turns out to be part of it. The secret underneath is one that somebody is prepared to do a great deal to keep.
The list of suspects and their motives narrows as Lynx works through it, and what he uncovers is a storm of greed, passion and betrayal with a bearing on his own life. The book is one of a series in which he investigates crimes that reach him sideways rather than through the police.
