Days of Blood and Starlight
Karou has learned that she is Madrigal, a chimaera killed for loving the seraph Akiva and resurrected in human form, and she has left Earth for the land of Eretz.
About
Days of Blood and Starlight is a young adult fantasy novel by the American writer Laini Taylor, published in November 2012. It is the second book of a trilogy, after Daughter of Smoke and Bone and before Dreams of Gods and Monsters.
Karou now knows who she is. She was Madrigal, a chimaera killed for loving the seraph Akiva, and she was brought back by Brimstone in the body of a human girl that he raised. With Brimstone dead at the hands of the seraphim, the chimaera have taken Karou back and given her the work he used to do.
She is the only chimaera left who knows the art of resurrection, and she uses it to bring the dead of a broken army back to fight the seraphim. Karou blames Akiva for what was done to her people and to her, while Akiva, on his side, is trying to make his own account of the war worth something. The novel moves between Eretz and Earth and keeps the consequences of the first book pressing on both of them.
