Dark Carousel

Dark Carousel is a paranormal romance novel by Christine Feehan, published in 2016. It begins when Charlotte Vintage walks into Tariq Asenguard's club and the ancient Carpathian recognises her as the lifemate he had stopped expecting to find.

Tariq is prepared to do whatever it takes to make her his own, and he is working from the assumption that she is simply a woman who has come into his club. Charlotte is there for a purpose of her own, because she and her best friend are using themselves as bait.

What they are trying to draw out are the killers who have already murdered Charlotte's brother and her mentor, and the plan depends on the two of them appearing to be alone and unprotected. The novel sets her private scheme against his certainty that he has found the person he was waiting for, and neither of them is telling the other the whole truth.

Charlotte's plan requires her to be noticed rather than protected, and the interest Tariq takes in her is the last thing she wanted while she was setting a trap.
