Cursed

Cursed is a fantasy novel by Marissa Meyer, published in 2022, and the second half of the duology that began with Gilded.

The Erlking plans to act at the Endless Moon, when he intends to trap one of the seven gods and use the wish he gains from it to bring his lover, Perchta, back from the underworld. Serilda and Gild have until then to break the curses that bind their spirits to the haunted castle of Adalheid, and the effort becomes harder when it turns out that the king does not intend to stop at one god. He wants all seven, because he needs them to tear down the veil that keeps the Dark Ones away from the world of the living. Against that, the two of them are working on several private problems at the same time: the mystery of Gild's forgotten name, the sister trapped inside another castle, and an unborn child whose future depends on what happens at the moon.

Meyer writes the sequel as a larger, more political story than the first book, in which the retelling of a fairy tale is used to put a world, not just a bargain, at stake.
