About

Country Bride is a romance novel by the American writer Debbie Macomber, published by Harlequin in 1990.

The book begins at a wedding. Kate Logan has spent years in love with Clay Franklin, and when Clay marries somebody else she proposes on the spot to Luke Rivers, the ranch foreman who has gone into business on his own account. She expects him to laugh it off. Instead he holds her to it, on the grounds that he does not go back on his word, and the two of them begin planning a wedding that one of them believes in and the other does not. Kate tries to explain that she meant it as a joke and that what she feels for Luke is the affection of a friend, and Luke tells her that she is wrong about her own mind.

The novel is set in Oregon ranch country.
