Corrupted Chaos is a contemporary romance by Shain Rose, published in 2022. One of its two central characters, Cade Armanelli, is a hacker of considerable reputation and wealth who prefers to work by himself.
The narrator has worked her way into a position alongside him, and she has done it by her own effort rather than by his approval. That is the reason she is on the first flight out to an undisclosed location for the company's cybersecurity retreat.
She intends to prove to the company that she can handle anything she is given. What she discovers she cannot handle is being put in a cabin and a bed with the meticulous, antisocial and ruthless boss she has been trying to impress. He does not want a partner, and she has no intention of being managed by one.
The novel is a workplace romance built on a professional rivalry that becomes an unavoidable proximity, and it runs on the distance between the competence she wants to demonstrate and the situation she has been placed in.
