Can You Keep a Secret?
Emma Corrigan has a job in marketing, a boyfriend she is not sure about and a private list of things she has never told anyone.
About
Sophie Kinsella's Can You Keep a Secret? was published in 2003. Emma Corrigan is a junior marketing representative at Panda, an organic food company, and she is in Chicago for a sales meeting at which the client turns down her pitch. On the flight home she drinks too much, the plane hits turbulence, and she becomes convinced that she is going to die, so she confides her personal and professional secrets to the stranger sitting beside her, including her doubts about her boyfriend, Connor.
When she lands, Connor meets her at the airport and suggests that they move in together, and although she agrees, she regrets it by the following morning. Back at work, Emma is preparing for a visit from Panda's chief executive, Jack Harper. When he arrives, she recognises him as the man from the plane, and she has to carry on working for the person who now knows her private list and is not above making use of it.
The novel was adapted into a 2019 American independent romantic comedy film directed by Elise Duran and starring Alexandra Daddario and Tyler Hoechlin, from a screenplay by Peter Hutchings. The film was released through video on demand in North America on 13 September 2019, with a limited theatrical release in some foreign markets.
