Camp
Randall Kapplehoff goes back to Camp Outland every summer, and this year he has a plan.
About
Camp is a novel for young readers by the American writer Lev A. C. Rosen, published in 2020 and set at a summer camp for queer teenagers.
Randall has been going to Camp Outland since he was old enough, and the parts of it he loves most are the drama cabin and his friends. Hudson is older, athletic and apparently interested in boys like himself, so Randall spends the year before the book begins remaking himself into somebody Hudson might notice, and the novel follows the summer in which the plan works. What he discovers is that being wanted for a version of himself he has constructed is not the same as being known, and that Hudson has his own reasons for the shape he presents to the world. Rosen fills the book with the life of the camp, the rehearsals and the campfire, and with the history and vocabulary of the community it describes.
It is one of the author's novels for young adults, and it was written with the structure of a classic romantic comedy in mind.
