Brother Odd
Odd Thomas has gone to a monastery in the mountains to live quietly and decide what to do with his life.
About
Brother Odd is a novel by the American writer Dean Koontz, published in 2006 and the third book in the series about Odd Thomas.
Odd Thomas is a young man who can see the dead and has spent years helping them, and by the time this book opens he has taken refuge at a monastery in the mountains, where he keeps to the kitchen and tries to decide what to make of the rest of his life. The quiet lasts until a bodach, the kind of presence that has preceded disaster for him before, appears in the abbey's halls. A monk disappears, somebody attacks Odd, and a snowstorm cuts the community off from the valley, leaving him to work out which of the people inside the walls is responsible. Among the residents are a child with an unusual gift and a dog who attaches himself to Odd for reasons of his own.
Koontz's Odd Thomas novels mix ordinary small-town life with the supernatural, and this is the third of the sequence, following Forever Odd.
