About
Breakfast in bed is a romance novel by the American writer Sandra Brown, published by Bantam in 1983.
Sloan Fairchild gave up on love some time ago and has put her energy into the bed-and-breakfast she runs instead. It is a family house and she is proud of what she has made of it. Her best friend asks a favour, which is that Sloan keep her fiance, Carter Madison, under her roof for a month, and Sloan agrees without thinking about what it will mean. Carter is not what she expected, and the feelings he brings up in her are not welcome. The novel covers the month in which the two of them discover that their interest is mutual and that acting on it would cost Sloan her friend. Neither of the choices available to her is a good one, and both of them cost something she values more than she admits.
