A man who trusts nobody and organises his life around control buys a month with a woman he sees on a stage at an auction.
About
The book is told by a man who has arranged his life so that nobody has power over him and who says plainly that he is not interested in love, although he still wants things. He sees Dahlia at an auction, buys a month of her time and takes her into his house, and she has not done anything of this kind before, which he finds as much a problem as an opportunity. Then she tells him a lie, and the way he chooses to respond to it becomes the conflict of the novel. He sets out to make things right by his own account of what right means. The month of her time is bought on his terms, which is what the title refers to, and he tells himself throughout that what he is doing is for her benefit. It is a full-length standalone romance with no cliffhanger and no cheating. He calls her his treasure and treats the month as something he has bought and is owed.
The book is written from the man's point of view from beginning to end.
