Blindsighted
A young college professor is found mutilated in a diner in a small Georgia town, and the autopsy by the paediatrician and part-time coroner Sara Linton shows how much the killer did before she died.
About
Blindsighted is a crime novel by the American writer Karin Slaughter, published in 2001. It was her first novel and the first in the Grant County series, and it takes a small town in Georgia as its setting.
Sara Linton is a paediatrician and the part-time coroner of Grant County. She receives a postcard carrying the question why hast thou forsaken me, and then finds a blind university professor dead in the bathroom of a local diner, stabbed and sexually assaulted. The postcard suggests that the killing was arranged for her to find, and the investigation therefore begins with the question of who sent it.
Sara works the investigation with Jeffrey Tolliver, the police chief and her former husband, and with the detective Lena Adams, who is the twin sister of the murdered woman. Another killing follows, and the case pushes Sara back into memories of her own sexual assault twelve years earlier. Slaughter has said she wrote the book because she wanted crimes against women told from a woman's point of view.
