About
Black Rose is a romance by the American writer Nora Roberts, published in 2005. It is set around a nursery business and a family mansion outside Memphis, Tennessee.
Rosalind Harper is forty-five and a woman whose experience has made her strong enough to bend without breaking. She is a widow with three grown sons, she survived a disastrous second marriage, and she built her business, In the Garden, from the ground up. She is entirely used to managing on her own, and she has assumed that love is behind her, but when romance arrives unexpectedly she is not prepared to let anything stand in the way of a second chance at happiness. Harper House, the centuries-old mansion where a Harper has always lived, is part of the story: for as long as anybody alive can remember, the ghostly Harper Bride has walked its halls and sung lullabies at night, and the house and its history are bound up with the family that owns it.
The novel belongs to a group of Roberts's books about three women who meet at a turning point in their lives, and the house, the garden and the family are the thread that connects them.
