Bear Meets Girl
Lou Crushek is a police detective who prefers his own company and does not like surprises, so he takes it badly when somebody starts killing the criminals he has been working to put away.
About
Bear Meets Girl is a paranormal romance by the American writer Shelly Laurenston, published in 2012. It is set in a version of the present in which several species of shape-shifters live alongside human beings, mostly out of sight.
Lou Crushek is a bear who works as a detective, an unhurried and even-tempered man who has arranged his life to suit himself. His patience fails when somebody begins killing the criminals he has spent his career bringing in, because it undoes the work and leaves him in a difficult position at the office. He would rather have solved the problem himself, and he says so.
The killer is Marcella Malone, a tiger and a member of an elite unit whose job is to protect her kind, and her target is a wealthy human who has marked shifters for destruction. She has joined forces with Crushek only because she needs what he knows, and he is working with her under protest. The novel puts a man who likes to be left alone beside a woman who has no intention of leaving him alone.
