Bared to You
Eva Tramell is twenty-four, has just finished her degree and is starting work in New York when she meets Gideon Cross, a billionaire about her own age who owns the building she has been hired into.
About
Bared to You is a romance novel by the American writer Sylvia Day, published in 2012. It is the first book of the Crossfire series.
Eva Tramell is a postgraduate and a multimillionaire in her own right, and she is also a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, which she still finds difficult to move past. Gideon Cross is a billionaire with a history of the same kind, and both of them know it about the other very early. The novel follows the beginning of a relationship that neither of them enters casually, and the two of them going into it aware of how much could go wrong.
What they work at, in this book and across the series, is communication and therapy rather than the power games the premise might suggest. The Crossfire books were written with an explicitly consent-forward, trauma-informed approach, and they do not include the bondage or sadomasochism of some other novels they have been grouped with, because the protagonists' own histories make pain and restraint intolerable to them. The series continues with Reflected in You.
