Atlantis
A marine archaeologist finds the keys to an ancient puzzle and takes a team of scientists and former soldiers out to look for what he believes could be the greatest archaeological discovery there has ever been.
About
Atlantis is an adventure novel by the English writer David Gibbins, published in 2005. It is the first of the books about Jack Howard, a marine archaeologist, and it moves between a remote desert oasis and the bottom of the sea. The book moves from an extraordinary discovery in a remote desert oasis to a race against time in the ocean depths.
Howard has come across the beginnings of an ancient puzzle, and with a group that includes scientific specialists and former special forces soldiers he sets out to follow it. What he is looking for is the site of the fabled city, and the expedition has been put together in a hurry because the evidence suggests that it is within reach.
A ruthless adversary watches the preparations and waits for the right moment to act. What the team finds in the depths is not what any of them expected, and the book is as much concerned with what a lost world might have been as with the mechanics of finding it. Howard believes that what he is looking for is the site behind the legend, and he is not the only person who has reached that conclusion.
