As Good as Dead
Pip Fitz-Amobi is about to leave for college, and the investigations she carried out in her home town have left her with death threats and a true-crime podcast that made her famous.
About
As Good as Dead is a young adult thriller by the British writer Holly Jackson, published in 2021 as the final book of the trilogy that began with A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. Pip has been the detective of her own story for two books by this point.
Pip Fitz-Amobi is on the point of leaving for college, but the investigations she carried out in her home town have not let her go. She receives death threats because of them, and although her true-crime podcast has made her well known, that has not made her safe.
Someone anonymous keeps asking her a question she cannot answer, and the book follows what happens when she tries to. The trilogy began with a murder she reopened as a school project and continued through a second investigation, and this last book turns the methods she has been using on to her own life. Jackson keeps the mixture of humour and dread that made the earlier books popular, while the threat now reaches into her future rather than her town's past.
